About Us

Grand Strand Scale Modelers was chartered August 14th, 2018 as a chapter of IPMS/USA in the Region 12 Central Atlantic Division. Located in Myrtle Beach, we organized with six exceptionally talented individuals. Our goal is to improve our modeling skills as well as furthering the hobby. Along with these goals we are a social organization where anyone with an interest in scale modeling can enjoy camaraderie.

Meetings are usually held on the 3rd Saturday of each month

How to Join

Feel free to come to a meeting and check us out. If you like what you see and want to join, club dues are $24 per year, payable upon joining and annually at the January meeting. (Dues are pro-rated for mid year new members.)

In Memoriam

Rick Davis

1952 - 2022

Richard L. Davis, age 69, passed away peacefully Saturday March 12, 2022 at his Murrells Inlet residence surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Waco, TX, served in the United States Marine Corps for 20 years, serving in Vietnam, and retiring as a Captain. Rick devoted himself professionally and personally to upholding the Marine Corps core values of Honor, Courage and Commitment in his everyday life. After his retirement, from the Marine Corps he worked as a mechanical engineer in the steel industry for 19 years. He was a founding member of the Grand Strand Scale Modelers Club and won numerous awards for his modeling skills. In Rick’s honor, a yearly “Best Marine Corps Subject” award will be presented.
